In my last article, I have focused on discussing red wine uses for hair and red wine uses for the skin. By this time, most of us have come to know that red wine has excellent uses and benefits in different ways.

Red wine has not left any room for not giving excellent results for rejuvenating the skin and retaining its natural glow.

In this article, I would like to pen down red wine benefits for health.

What is red wine?

Red wine is a story that originates from ancient Greece. It is made with dark colored grapes and includes grape skin in fermentation.

The grapes are rich in many antioxidants such as resveratrol, catechin, proanthocyanidins, and epicatechin.

Grape skin is majorly responsible for its color. It can be consumed as a relaxing drink or be the supportive ingredient of many food recipes.

Red wine taste varies from sweet to acre. It is a source of sugar and phenolic compounds. It reduces the risk of depression and cardiovascular diseases. Red wine is useful in decreased neurodegenerative diseases.

 

Vinification is the name of the transformation of grapes into wine.

Red wine benefits depend majorly on its moderate consumption. For women, one glass per day is recommended. And the males are directed for 2 glasses per day. A serving of wine equals 150 ml.

It is recorded by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), alcohol is one of the components that are responsible for cancer.

It is observed from the Epidemiological evidence that the over-consumption of alcoholic beverages increases the risk of cancer. The risk of cancer is found in the oral cavity, liver, colon, pharynx, larynx, and esophagus.

It is toxic to the fetus and hence avoids it drinking during pregnancy.

Sulphur dioxide is used in red wine as a chemical additive that helps to preserve wine. It can trigger manifestations of intolerance like headaches, running nose, itching, etc. it’s not friendly with asthmatics.

Polyphenols, an antioxidant is present in wine. It is helpful in reducing the growth of bacteria and prevents cavities.

Researchers found that intake of 14 glasses red wine in a week fights cold by 40% with the help of the antioxidants present in red wine.

  1. Maintains figure line

A report from the Internal Medicine Archives states that red wine consumed while eating by middle-aged women reduces the risk of overweight. It eliminates the fats from the body. It stimulates the fat cells to destroy them.

Resveratrol turns white fat into beige fat. It is easier to eliminate beige fat than white fat.

American Association for Cancer Research reveals that moderate consumption of red wine in men reduces the lung cancer by 2% in middle-aged men and 60% in the smokers.

  1. Helpful in limiting the side effects of radiation therapy

Italian Clinical Study reveals that the radiation therapy used to treat the breast cancer in women have lesser adverse effects in a woman who is a moderate red wine drunker compare to a woman who doesn’t drink red wine at all.

It is believed that the red wine helps to replenish the cells of the skin. It fights against radiation.

A study from the University of California reveals that red wine has relaxing properties. The grape skin contains an enzyme that plays its role in deactivating the cellular stress response system.

(Endorphin is a group of hormones secreted within the brain and nervous system and having a number of physiological functions. They are peptides which activate the body’s opiate receptors, causing an analgesic effect.)

When Endorphin increases, the tension decreases.

A study from Harvard and East Anglia reveals the secret that consumption of moderate red wine by males reduces the erectile dysfunction. It is because of the pigment called flavonoid present in red wine.

From the various studies conducted it is said that the life expectancy in people drinking moderate red wine increases with few percentages. The risk of senile dementia found is also lower.

  1. Improves memory

Resveratrol improves memory and people have better information retention. The hippocampus gets more active.

Hippocampus is the section of the brain that is liable for memory development, knowledge, and emotions.

  1. Diabetes control

It is said that intake of two glasses of red wine per day for four weeks helps in reducing insulin resistance. It also works out in reducing type 2 diabetes in a woman.

  1. Increases bone density

The bone gets brittle with the growing age. The intake of wine can improve the bone mineral density as it rich in silicon. Silicon increases the bone density reducing the chances of osteoporosis

  1. Protection from sunburn

When the ultra-violet rays touch the skin, they activate reactive oxygen species. The reactive oxygen species oxidize fats, DNA, and other large molecules. These all, in turn, stimulates other enzymes harming skin cells.

The flavonoid present in red wine inhibits the formation of the ROS (reactive oxygen species) in skin cells those are exposed to sun rays.

Conclusion

Red wine has multiple uses and benefits for overall health. But, it needs to be remembered that excess of anything is not good. Similarly, excessive consumption of Red wine is not good in any way.
